It is not too late in the season to add one more special piece to your patio. We stumbled upon this great vintage metal chair and we’re going to give it a fashion inspired makeover. As you can see, this chair has seen better days so I’m just going to begin by giving it a quick wash, a scuff, and I’ll take care of any chipping paint. Now my surface is ready to be primed and I’m using Beauti-Tone’s Rust Coat Primer. Now you’ll notice I’m using a tinted primer for this because my final coat is actually a very rich and dark shade. The tinted primer looks pretty good on its own but I have this beautiful blue shade from Beauti-Tone that’s really going to take it up a notch. Now the reason I love this paint is it’s actually an outdoor paint for metal so it’s fade proof and rust-proof, so it’ll last a long time. I have to say after 2 coats of paint, this chair looks great and we could stop right here but as I mentioned earlier, this is a fashion inspired makeover and what’s in fashion right now: polka dots. I did want a high contrast look for the polka dots so I chose “Mega White” in Beauti-Tone’s Rust Coat Paint. And to apply those dots, we have this great stencil from Home Hardware which will to allow us to have a consistent shape. The great thing about this little stencil is that the doughnut shape allows me to space out all the dots evenly with little to no effort. So instead of painting these dots all across the base of the chair, I’ve decide to create this kind of organic path of dots which makes it look really custom. I think that’s the last dot I need and I’m loving the final look. I’m really happy that we were able to recycle an old chair and give it a high-fashion look. Now I’m just going to let this dry and I’ll be ready for my patio. .
